Set the oven to 400°F (200°C) and grease a baking dish or individual ramekins.
In a skillet over medium heat, melt butter and sauté garlic for about 30 seconds.
Add shrimp, salt, black pepper, red pepper flakes, and lemon zest, cooking for 1-2 minutes until just pink. Remove from heat.
In a saucepan, heat heavy cream over medium heat. Stir in Parmesan cheese, nutmeg, Italian seasoning, and white wine (if using).
Simmer for 2-3 minutes until slightly thickened.
Transfer the cooked shrimp to the prepared baking dish.
Pour the creamy sauce over the shrimp, spreading evenly.
In a small bowl, mix panko breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, and melted butter until well combined.
Sprinkle the mixture evenly over the shrimp and sauce.
Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and crispy.
Garnish and Serve
Sprinkle with fresh parsley and serve immediately with crusty bread, pasta, or a fresh salad. Enjoy!
