Ingredients

Beef:

  • 1 pound beef (sirloin, ribeye, or flank steak, thinly sliced)

Marinade Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar or honey
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon gochujang (Korean chili paste) (optional, for heat)
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds
  • 2 green onions, finely chopped
  • 1/2 tablespoon teaspoon black pepper

For Cooking:

  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil (for pan-frying or grilling)

For Garnish:

  • Additional sesame seeds
  • Chopped green onions
  • Fresh lettuce leaves (optional, for wrapping)

Instructions

Slice the Beef:

  • Freeze the beef for about 30 minutes to make slicing easier. Slice the beef against the grain into thin strips (about 1/8 inch thick).

Prepare the Marinade:

  • In a bowl, combine 1/4 cup soy sauce, 2 tablespoons brown sugar or honey, 1 tablespoon sesame oil, 3 minced garlic cloves, 1 teaspoon grated ginger, 1 tablespoon rice vinegar, 1 tablespoon gochujang (optional), 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds, 2 chopped green onions, and 1/2 teaspoon black pepper. Stir well to combine.

Marinate the Beef:

  • Place the sliced beef in a shallow dish or resealable plastic bag. Pour the marinade over the beef, ensuring all pieces are coated. Seal the bag or cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes (or up to 4 hours or overnight for more flavor).

Cook the Beef:

  • 1- Grill Method: Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Grill the marinated beef for 2-3 minutes on each side until cooked to your liking.
  • 2- Pan-Fry Method: Heat 1 tablespoon vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, stirring occasionally.
  • 3- Broil Method: Preheat your oven’s broiler. Place the marinated beef on a baking sheet and broil for 2-3 minutes per side, watching closely to prevent burning.

Serve:

  • Once cooked, transfer the beef to a serving dish. Garnish with extra sesame seeds and chopped green onions. Serve with steamed rice, kimchi, or fresh lettuce leaves for wrapping.
