Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together using an electric mixer or stand mixer on medium speed. Mix until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
Add the egg, vanilla extract, and milk to the butter mixture and continue mixing until combined.
Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
Add the red food coloring to the dough and stir until the desired pink color is achieved. You can add more food coloring if you prefer a deeper pink hue.
Roll the dough into small 1-inch balls and place them about 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheets.
Using the bottom of a glass or your fingers, gently press down on each cookie ball to flatten them slightly.
Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are just starting to set. The centers may look slightly soft, but they will firm up as the cookies cool.
Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
Once cooled, dust the cookies lightly with powdered sugar for a touch of elegance and sweetness.
