Slow Cooker Brown Sugar Garlic Chicken

My slow cooker brown sugar garlic chicken is a recipe I’ve returned to time and time again, not just because of its irresistible taste but because of how simple it is to prepare.

Ingredients
  

  • 4 boneless skinless chicken thighs (or breasts)
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • ½ cup brown sugar packed
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • Optional: chopped parsley or green onions for garnish

Instructions
 

  • Season chicken with black pepper and dried thyme.
  • In a bowl, mix brown sugar, soy sauce, minced garlic, and apple cider vinegar.
  • Place chicken in the slow cooker and pour the sauce over the top.
  • Cook on low for 4-5 hours or high for 2-3 hours until chicken is tender.
  • Remove chicken and set aside. Mix cornstarch with water and stir it into the sauce in the slow cooker. Cook on high for 10-15 minutes until thickened.
  • Return chicken to the slow cooker, spoon the thickened sauce over, and garnish with parsley or green onions. Serve warm.
